The Civil Systems Engineer will be a member of an integrated team responsible for working with the craft and facility building envelope systems of Structures, Roofs, Fixed Ladders, Overhead Doors and Corrosion Control while maintaining or supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job SummaryWe are looking for a Civil Engineer who wants to work in a multi-disciplinary team that plays a key role in supporting national defense through ground testing of air and space systems. While this position has some office work involved, the majority of the engineer’s time is spent in the field working with our skilled craft workforce. This work involves practical application of engineering principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, hydraulics, pneumatics, and materials of construction.
The engineer works with craft technicians to facilitate troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of existing systems and upgrades, and provides engineering support to the crew to enable maintenance and repairs.
This role supports the Facility Operations team with technical system engineering support for facility building envelope systems of Structures, Roofs, Fixed Ladders, Overhead Doors and Corrosion Control. It also serves as a backup resource for Facility Civil and Mechanical systems for Roads, HVAC, Fire and Crane systems. Responsibilities include lifecycle management of assets, systems and facilities, review and oversight of designs, construction and maintenance of system-related investment projects, and ensuring compliance with engineering practices, codes and regulations.
Job Duties- Civil Systems Engineer for Building Systems – Structures, Building Envelope, Roofs, Fixed Ladders, Paint systems/Corrosion Control and Overhead Doors;
Serves as backup resource for Facility Civil and Mechanical Systems for Roads, HVAC, Fire and Crane Systems. - System Engineer role to review, plan and program the maintenance, repair and replacement of building systems.
- Ensure building systems are in serviceable condition with support for responsive repairs and long-term planning for improvements.
- Evaluate systems condition, update system records and maintain and update records of system issues and resolutions.
- Responsible for lifecycle management of assets, systems and facilities.
- Follow configuration management and asset management processes with all system records.
- Support, review and provide oversight of designs, construction and maintenance of system-related investment projects.
- Develop and update written Work Instructions for Building System Assets as required to maintain and repair systems.
- Ensure all records and requirements are performed in the Builder asset evaluation system.
- Ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and established standards, codes, and regulations.
- It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant and progressive engineering experience.
- Any license or certification required.
- Any pre‑screening/tests required (not including standard background/clearance checks).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
- Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.
