* Job Description:

**** About the Job:
** Under the general direction of the Director, Materials Management and the direct supervision of the Manager, Patient Transportation the driver/courier provides services for Elliot Health System to banks, post office, local businesses, and satellite facilities.
*
* What You’ll Do:

*** Performs scheduled and unscheduled errands outside the facility. Makes pick-ups and deliveries within the hospital facilities and at approved stops. Notifies supervisor when scheduling or priority conflicts exist.
* Provides and/or arranges for appropriate maintenance of department vehicles and keeps them clean. Reports items requiring repair or replacement. Maintains fuel and fluid levels and ensures vehicles are garaged for routine oil change/inspection.
* Keeps tires properly inflated. Makes immediate report of any and all damages to vehicles.
* Ensures vehicle documents are up-to-date and available in vehicle at all times, i.e., safety inspection, emissions, no-fault, registration, insurance, etc. Maintains good driving record. Obeys traffic regulations and drives safely.
* Ensures vehicle contents are properly controlled at all times. Maintains storage requirements for biological specimens and other items handled during transport.
* Keeps vehicle locked while unattended, never leaves keys in the vehicle. Parks vehicle in high visibility areas and in designated on-property spaces.
* Transports packages, letters, records and other items as required, including soiled/sterile supplies.
* Authorizes charges to Elliot accounts as appropriate and when directed. Maintains receipt control and turns receipts in to office secretary.
** Required Knowledge and

Skills:

*** Skill and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
* Ability to maintain vehicular logs.
* Knowledge of the principles of automotive operations sufficient to detect defects in vehicle(s).
* Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relations with those contacted in the course of work.
* Basic computer skills.

* Job Qualifications:

* Education:

** High school diploma or equivalent required.
* *
* Experience:

** A minimum of three months’ experience as a paid driver/courier.
* ** Certification/Licensure:
** Valid Driver’s License. Must be able to provide driving record from state of current driver’s license. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to pass DOT physical.
