Role Summary
The Neuroscience Account Manager (Psychiatry) is responsible for executing and promoting products within an assigned territory, exceeding sales goals by delivering value to customers, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of products, disease states, and market reimbursement. The role reports to the Neuroscience District Sales Manager and requires collaboration with the district leadership, effective resource management, and compliance with all laws and company policies.
Travel within the territory and occasional overnights may be required.
- Execute and promote products in alignment to sales strategy in the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with the District Sales Manager to respond to day-to-day sales and strategy direction related to product promotion activities.
- Analyze local market, develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize appropriate product use in the territory.
- Maintain current knowledge of product, disease, competitive landscape, and market reimbursement.
- Determine, implement, and monitor optimal resource allocation within the territory.
- Communicate effectively using advanced selling and negotiation skills to identified target audiences.
- Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels.
- Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems as needed.
- Manage travel and promotional budget.
- Fulfill monitoring and reporting requirements including expenses and call reporting using approved systems and processes.
- Maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Meet and comply with credentialing requirements of healthcare providers and facilities.
- Complete additional ad-hoc projects as needed.
- BS or BA with GPA greater than 3.0.
- Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience preferred; consideration for an “Associate” role if experience requirements are not met.
- Atypical antipsychotic experience and/or orphan drug experience preferred.
- Preferred specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management.
- Reimbursement experience preferred.
- Existing relationships (or those within 24 months) with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in the territory preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving history.
- Self-starter with a goal- and results-driven mindset; proven track record of above-average results.
- Fortitude to sell and compete with a hunter mentality.
- Strong relationships and knowledge of the territory preferred.
- Ability to travel (may include overnights); willingness for out-of-territory travel to HQs, training, and meetings.
- Work hours may include meetings outside of normal hours.
- Must reside within the territory geography.
- Goal- and results-driven with a proven track record of above-average results.
- Highly clinical, patient-centric, and tactical with excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, written).
- Ability to navigate complex markets and organizations.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Dynamic, high-impact presents and strong selling and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to read situations quickly and adjust for roadblocks.
- Customer-focused, self-motivated, and computer proficient.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; able to operate a motor vehicle for local, regional, and occasional overnight travel.
- May occasionally require lifting and/or moving items up to 15 pounds.
