Position: CNC Milling Machinists - Class C (2nd shift)

Granite State Manufacturing (GSM) is seeking motivated Class C CNC Milling Machinists to join our precision manufacturing team on first shift.

This position is ideal for entry-level or early-career machinists who are eager to learn CNC operations and build a long-term career in advanced manufacturing supporting the U.S. Navy submarine program and other critical defense projects.

About the Opportunity

As a Class C CNC Milling Machinist, you’ll assist with the setup, operation, and inspection of CNC milling equipment while gaining hands-on experience in a high-precision production environment.

GSM operates a range of advanced machinery including Doosan DVF 5-Axis, Doosan DBC Horizontal Boring Mills, Soraluce FLP/FP-Series, Kuraki HBMs, Mazak Nexus 510C, Mori verticals, and YCM NXV 1680A platforms.

You’ll work under the guidance of experienced machinists and supervisors to execute work in accordance with the production schedule (IAW schedule) and begin developing the skills needed for advancement to Class B and A levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with machine setups, material loading, and part inspection.
  • Operate CNC milling machines and horizontals under direct supervision.
  • Follow setup sheets, routers, and process plans accurately.
  • Use basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers) to check part features.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area consistent with 5S standards.
  • Support production flow and meet work priorities IAW production schedule.
  • Participate in on-the-job training to learn advanced machining, GD&T, and inspection practices.
  • Follow all safety policies and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of CNC or manufacturing experience (training provided).
  • Basic understanding of machining tools and measurement instruments.
  • Eagerness to learn setups, program operation, and precision measurement.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to follow instruction.
  • Desire to grow into a Class B or Class A machinist role.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.
