We’re seeking an experienced Telecom Field Construction Supervisor to manage onsite field construction of telecom networks in the New Hampshire market. This role involves overseeing end-to-end project execution, managing timelines, coordinating teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. We are looking for someone with proven telecom network construction experience.
- Provide overall administration and technical management of the construction team
- Responsibilities associated with the installation and construction of network elements inside and outside plant environment as well as at the customer site
- Provide planning, recommendations, and work guidance in support of productivity within the construction environment
- Supervise the activities of the construction team with responsibility for some financial and/or operational results
- Translate individual operational goals into team goals
- Provide technical advice and subject matter expertise across multiple construction projects
- Contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards
- Regularly interact with the project management team
- Perform job duties consistent with the company's safety, standards and policies
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high performing team of construction technicians experienced in Outside Plant while driving change to meet strategic business goals
- Oversee day-to-day functions of the team including work map design review, quality performance and time reporting
- Provide technical assistance and communicate technical information and status to the project management team
- Coach and develop a team to have a sense of urgency in providing on-time performance as well as quality products for our customers
- Assume supervisory level responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the activities of the construction team
- Note:
The incumbent must be available to respond outside of standard working hours as part of a scheduled on-call rotation - Accountable for results in terms of operational construction goals and employees
- Act as an advisor or expert to subordinates for elevated issues and problems
- Identify appropriate resources needed and work with the department manager to develop plan schedules
- Act as a team lead within the department, delegating work to team members
- Work with the department manager throughout the hiring process for new hires as well as helping with retention of current team members
- Ability to work with training team
- Possesses a broad knowledge of the fiber optic construction environment as well as general knowledge in supporting environments
- Understands supervisory techniques with the ability to resolve employee relations as well as performance issues
- Proven ability to work within an ever-changing environment
- Shown the ability to solve a wide range of technical problems and roadblocks and has shown the ability to provide solutions
- Advanced skills within all areas of the construction environment
- Requires independent thinking
- Moderate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Possesses the ability to identify quality and safety issues and work towards team awareness in this area
Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Drive and operate a vehicle, and/or bucket.
Environmental conditions:
exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise. Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work. Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
