This adjunct position is for two sections of HLS 455 Introduction to Cybersecurity. The course meets twice a week on the Durham campus. The primary focus of HLS 455 is to provide a survey of the broad field of cybersecurity and information security/assurance. Topics include definitions of information security, its importance in public and private sectors, ethical and legal issues, risk management, and cybersecurity technologies.
The role of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in securing cyberspace and national information infrastructure will also be explored.
Duties/Responsibilities
HLS 455 introduces students to the fundamentals of cybersecurity, including:
- The operational aspects of security strategies for identifying and controlling exposures
- Risk management strategies
- Legal issues
- Personal and property protection
- The role of intelligence
- Disaster planning and management
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree
