Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding)
The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 will be responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from the Omnicell automated IV equipment. The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 will prepare and maintain the Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, perform advanced equipment troubleshooting, maintain optimal medication inventory levels, and review/maintain reports. The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 will engage with various levels of customer service by identifying and addressing any customer concerns and reporting to the Pharmacy Services Manager.
Responsibilities- Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error‑free manner, consistent with prescribed guidelines.
- Perform IV automation equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
- Identify and order medications to ensure inventories are at optimal levels.
- Monitor and order consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment and report unresolved issues to the IV HD.
- Maintain high‑level communication with the pharmacy services manager and customer to ensure proactive, solution‑oriented problem identification and resolution.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer‑focused support emphasizing quality, professionalism, and responsiveness, acting as liaison between OMCL and the customer.
- Comply with IV Compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility.
- Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling.
- Maintain state and/or national credentialing to meet established guidelines.
- Good organizational skills, accurate, reliable and efficient.
- Demonstrated customer‑facing skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work with mechanical equipment.
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, PC Windows.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certificate (PTCB / through NHA, a CPhT / EXCPT).
- Active State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration from the New Hampshire State Board of Pharmacy (if required).
- Working knowledge / familiarity of IV compounding.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with automation devices.
- SME for Pharmacy Services department.
- One year of IV compounding experience.
- Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications.
- Proficiency in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques.
- Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy automation.
- Pharmacy environment.
- Capable of standing for several hours at a time.
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs.
- Able to lift 25‑30 lbs.
- Selected candidates may be required to pass a math aptitude test.
