MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in designing military equipment a plus
The Mechanical Sustainment Engineer will join the New Product Development team and will be responsible for the sustainment of mechanical designs and validation of engineering change orders to existing products including electro-acoustic assemblies, intercoms, cable assemblies, and helmet mounted military products. Identify design issues and recommend design direction, goals, and planning tasks. Review designs and models for performance, manufacturability and quality.
Apply lean design and six sigma design for manufacturing concepts for plastic injection molded components, metal stampings and mechanical parts.

Responsibilities detail- Design, document and test products and subsystem components.
- Drive system capability forward on current and next generation products.
- Develop the best innovative solutions to enhance existing product portfolio.
- Prepare/Create sub assembly and final assembly drawings with material specs and BOMs.
- Prepare/Create 3-D models and assemblies
- Coordinate validation/testing of samples and interface with key vendors.
- Prepare and present engineering data to senior management and participate in design review meetings.
- Have overall responsibility for the mechanical design of the product.
- Responsible for creating test plans, testing designs under lab conditions, and drafting engineering reports.
- Assist in maintaining of products in a high-volume production environment.
- Contribute to multiple projects.
- Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and statics
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience and Application of CAD/FEA tools. Prior use of Solidworks a plus.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical designs, plastic injection molded components, cable assemblies, and machined housings.
- Must be familiar with design for manufacturability and transition from design to production.
- Understanding of best practices with respect to challenging environmental requirements for military applications.
- Experience, application, and report writing for testing to environmental standards.
- Familiar with shared data management tools such as Solidworks PDM and SharePoint a plus
