Duties
We are looking for a skilled Physician - Diagnostic Radiologists are responsible for providing appropriate diagnostic radiology care to patients. Diagnostic Radiologist Physicians are physicians who have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Radiology residency program, or an equivalent foreign program, and who perform and interpret diagnostic imaging, interventional or nuclear medicine studies. Radiologists follow the guidelines of the American College of Radiology (ACR), and they are guided by the Appropriateness Criteria developed by ACR or Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).
The incumbent is a board-certified physician with advanced clinical experience as well as demonstrated administrative and leadership skills. Duties include but are not limited to:
- May participate in completion of annual performance appraisals on physicians on the Diagnostic Imaging ORG chart.
- Responsibilities include the interpretation of x-ray, CT MRI, US, nuclear medicine exams, performing and interpreting fluoroscopy exams, protocoling and approving CT, MRI and nuclear medicine exams, and notifying ordering physicians or nurse practitioners of critical results.
- Carries out administrative duties as assigned in a timely, resourceful, and efficient manner. Demonstrates interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills that establish and maintain professional relationships with other professionals, peers, departmental support staff and leaders both at the facility and at higher levels.
- Fosters an environment of mutual respect and free communication and promotes a culture of safety in which individuals will feel free to point out problems and deficiencies without fear of retaliation.
- May participate in the new employee Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) process, and in the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) process. May participates in the FPPE-for-cause process if required.
- Maintains familiarity with and understanding of the VA directives and rules regarding radiology and diagnostic imaging, plus all safety requirements related to Diagnostic Imaging.
- The duties and responsibilities of the Physician - Diagnostic Radiologist include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review all service, facility, VISN and VHA policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Document their procedures, consultations, and healthcare decisions in the medical record.
- Supervise the administration of medications, including contrast agents, by technologists.
- Communicate emergent findings directly to the treating physician/service in a timely manner.
- Development of, and adherence to, standard procedures and protocols.
- Maintain, direct, and encourage radiation and MRI safety practices.
- Evaluate image and study quality on daily basis and are responsible to fill tech QI templates in the PACS system when image quality is suboptimal.
- May participates in VISN1 Radiology activities, reporting critical incidents and other required information to the VISN Radiologist.
- Participates in facility High Reliability Organization (HRO) activities.
- May participate in selected committees as designated by the Deputy Chief of Staff
- Ensures that all diagnostic imaging reporting is completed timely with results communicated accurately and timely based on Directive and clinical compelling nature.
- Adheres to the Medical Staff Bylaws, policies, procedures, and SOPs of this facility.
- Cooperates with other members of the medical staff to achieve high quality whole-health patient care.
- Reports outcomes that he/she believes did not meet acceptable standards to the Deputy Chief of Staff.
- Board certified in Radiology
- Maintains BLS certification.
- Maintains an active medical license in the United States
- Acquires CMEs and participates in MOC as required by the individual's specialty board.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday -
