ATG Sports builds high‑performance synthetic turf fields, running tracks, and turnkey athletic facilities for schools and communities across the Midwest. Our team operates a modern fleet of in‑house equipment and delivers projects with precision, safety, and pride. We’re looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator who can lead onsite operations, operate equipment with accuracy, and help maintain tight control over project expenses.
Role OverviewThis hybrid role combines hands‑on equipment operation with daily jobsite leadership. You’ll run dozers, skid steers, excavators, and laser‑guided grading systems while coordinating crews, maintaining safety standards, tracking project progress, and managing onsite expenses such as fuel, materials, and equipment usage. You’ll work closely with project managers to keep schedules, quality, and budgets on track.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment including dozers, skid steers, excavators, rollers, and graders for sports field and track construction.
- Perform precision grading using GPS or laser‑guided systems for base preparation, drainage layers, and finish tolerances.
- Lead and supervise daily jobsite activities, ensuring crews understand tasks, timelines, and safety requirements.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting to keep machines job‑ready.
- Coordinate material deliveries, subcontractors, and workflow to maintain project momentum.
- Read and interpret construction plans, grades, and layout points.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety‑compliant jobsite at all times.
- Communicate clearly with project managers regarding progress, challenges, and needs.
- Document daily production, site conditions, and equipment usage.
- Track and manage project expenses, including fuel receipts, material quantities, equipment hours, and other jobsite costs to support accurate reporting and budget control.
- Submit receipts, logs, and expense documentation promptly using company systems to ensure transparency and timely reimbursement.
- Represent ATG Sports professionally with clients, school districts, and community partners.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment on construction sites (grading, civil, sports fields, or site development preferred).
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and equipment operation protocols.
- Experience with GPS or laser‑guided grading systems is highly valued.
- Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, and construction drawings.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to direct crews effectively.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to project sites across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and surrounding regions.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of cost tracking, receipts, and jobsite expense management preferred.
- Consistent work building high‑profile athletic facilities for schools and communities.
