Job SummarySeeking two experienced Operating Room RNs to join their General Surgery team. This role is focused on the evening "power shift," ensuring that scheduled afternoon cases are completed efficiently and that the OR remains ready for emergent surgical needs.
Key Responsibilities- Circulating & Scrubbing: Act as a primary circulator (and scrub if proficient) for a variety of general surgery cases, including laparoscopic procedures, orthopedics, and acute surgical emergencies.
- Evening Throughput: Manage the transition from daytime elective blocks to evening urgent cases, ensuring sterile integrity and rapid room turnover.
- On-Call Response: Provide critical surgical support during on-call hours for emergent "crash" cases arriving via the Emergency Department.
- Epic EMR Transition: Participate in the hospital-wide migration to Epic, documenting intraoperative nursing care, surgical times, and implant data within the new system.
- Patient Safety: Lead the "Surgical Time Out" and ensure strict adherence to the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist for every patient.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated OR RN experience in a hospital setting.
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in general, ortho, and laparoscopic surgical services. A comprehensive Skills Checklist is required with your submission packet.
- Licensure: Active Connecticut State RN License.
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) – Required.
- ACLS (AHA) – Required.
- CNOR – Highly Preferred.
- Call Readiness: Must be able to reach the hospital within the required response time (typically 30 minutes) during on-call shifts.
