Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Per Diem Radiation Oncology Nurse to join our outpatient Radiation Oncology team. This role provides clinical support to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals undergoing radiation treatment. The position offers coverage one day per week, with the opportunity for additional hours to support staff PTO and department needs.

About Our Team

You will work collaboratively within a dedicated care team that includes Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Medical Assistants, and administrative support staff. Our department values communication, teamwork, and timely follow-up to ensure every patient receives exceptional care throughout their cancer treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing assessments, medication review, symptom management, and patient education throughout radiation therapy.
  • Support daily patient flow, including triage, treatment-related follow-up, and coordination of care.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, MA, and administrative staff to ensure all clinical and logistical patient needs are addressed. Also collaborates closely with Medical Oncology office.
  • Document clinical encounters and follow-up in accordance with department standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality, safety, and process improvement efforts as needed.
  • Provide additional coverage for staff PTO or urgent staffing needs.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure.
  • Oncology experience preferred; OCN certification highly desirable.
  • Previous Radiation Oncology or outpatient oncology experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and patient-education skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • First aid/CPR certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Schedule

Per diem

1 day per week, with potential of additional hours to cover PTO and other department needs.
