Job Description
MARC, Inc. of Manchester is seeking a Full‑Time VET Program Trainer. The trainer will help each individual realize their career goals by providing support to master job descriptions and developing natural workplace supports. The position requires a valid CT Driver's License and a vehicle with current CT registration and insurance. It is a full‑time role (Monday‑Friday, 37.5 hours per week).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Deliver vocational skills training tailored to the abilities, learning styles, and goals of people served
- Provide instruction in workplace readiness and soft skills, including communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and professional behavior
- Teach job‑specific skills such as task completion, tool use, safety procedures, time management, and productivity
- Support individuals in building confidence, independence, and self‑advocacy skills
- Assist participants with understanding workplace expectations and routines
- Collaborate with job coaches, case managers, and support staff to reinforce learning
- Participate in the development and implementation of vocational curriculum
- Support participants in real or simulated work environments, including community‑based training sites
- Adapt training methods and materials to accommodate physical and developmental disabilities
- Promote inclusive practices and positive representation of people with disabilities
- Attend in‑services, outside agency, and all staff committee and employee meetings as needed
- Protect the privacy of individuals and the confidentiality of information unless disclosure serves a professional purpose or is required by law
- Complete any other tasks delegated by the Transition Services Coordinator
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year experience in the human services field
- Ability to teach practical, hands‑on skills using clear and supportive instruction
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Prior teaching experience preferred
- Proficient with computers
- Utilizes sound judgement and decision‑making skills
- Must be able to complete all essential job duties, minimum qualifications, and physical efforts with or without a disability
- Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving
- Ability to stand, sit, use a telephone, and type at a computer
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of non‑ambulatory people
