Position: LOGISTICS DRIVER

We are currently offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus for new Logistic Driver hires. $1,250 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $1,250 after 180 days.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Logistics Driver in Manassas, VA. The Logistics Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of industrial/commercial parts and construction equipment to customer locations and Carter Machinery branches along established routes. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of CDL driving experience, including heavy-haul and tractor/lowboy driving.

A valid CDL A license is required; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Requirements for the Logistics Driver position include:

Thorough knowledge of DOT and company safety standards and regulations.

Excellent driving record.

Ability to operate a 5 or 6 axle configuration truck.

Ability to conduct truck inspections to ensure proper working condition.

Ability to secure cargo using chains and binders in compliance with regulations.

Mechanical aptitude for basic truck maintenance.

Professional interaction with customers and personnel, with the ability to address delivery concerns.

Ability to work under speed and deadline pressures.

Knowledge of rental, construction, and generator equipment, with the ability to operate and instruct on proper use.

Excellent customer service skills.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to operate a forklift.

Willingness to work additional hours as needed.

Physical requirements include the ability to qualify for a Department of Transportation medical card, lift and carry items up to 75 pounds, and perform tasks involving reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and sitting for extended periods. Work outside in various weather conditions is required. Vision abilities needed include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
