Overview
We are seeking a senior technology sales professional to serve as Director of Sales & Marketing for our client, a local IT managed services firm. This role is responsible for driving new business growth, developing repeatable sales processes, and ultimately building and leading the company’s sales organization.
The position is designed as a player/coach role
. The Director will initially carry a sales quota and focus on new logo acquisition, while also establishing the structure, discipline, and accountability needed to scale the sales function over time.
Sales & Business Development
- Lead new logo acquisition for managed IT services and recurring revenue offerings
- Personally generate and manage pipeline through prospecting, networking, and relationship development
- Conduct discovery, qualify opportunities, and guide prospects through the sales process
- Collaborate with leadership and technical teams on solution design, pricing, and proposals
- Close managed services agreements, including multi-year contracts
Market Presence & Relationship Building
- Establish and maintain a strong presence in the local market through in-person meetings and professional networking
- Represent the company at industry events, associations, and community forums
- Build long-term relationships with decision-makers across commercial and public-sector organizations
Sales Leadership & Process Development
- Define and implement sales activity standards, pipeline management, and performance metrics
- Establish a structured, repeatable sales process aligned to company growth goals
- Provide coaching, guidance, and oversight to junior sales staff as the team expands
- Partner with marketing resources (internal and external) to support lead generation and brand awareness
Reporting & Accountability
- Track sales activity, pipeline, and revenue performance
- Provide regular reporting and forecasts to executive leadership
- Maintain accountability for individual and team performance
Required
- 8–15+ years of experience in sales, with a strong emphasis on IT services, managed services, or technology services
- Demonstrated success selling recurring revenue solutions
- Proven experience as a new business hunter
- Ability and willingness to carry a quota while building a sales organization
- Experience managing or mentoring sales professionals
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Willingness to be active in the local market and conduct in-person meetings
Preferred
- Experience with in an MSP or IT consulting environment
- Exposure to public-sector, municipal, or government-adjacent clients
- Familiarity with longer sales cycles and consultative selling models
