Position Summary
The Parks, Culture & Recreation division of the City of Manassas is seeking a charismatic, energetic individual to oversee Stonewall Park Pool as our Pool Manager. The selected incumbent will be responsible for hiring and supervising pool employees, managing staff and facility operations, and expanding outreach and programming at Stonewall Park Pool. This position works to ensure the success of the pool season by maintaining the pool to meet national safety standards, programming the pool for events and swim lessons, and meeting the needs of the community and community partners.
The hiring range for this position is $22-$25 per hour, DOE.
The position will begin this winter in preparation of the pool season.
This position is open until filled.
Essential Job Functions
Job responsibilities include working to plan and schedule swim teams, lessons, and camps; hiring, instructing, and managing staff to exceed NSPF, Red Cross, and other pool safety standards; working with staff, volunteers, and contracted employees to open the pool on time and to the highest degree of safety.
Daily operations and requirements of the Pool Manager include routine facility maintenance, administering chemical and mechanical cleaning methods to ensure safe water quality, enforcing rules through staff interaction, safe cash handling procedures, customer service and dispute resolution, admissions and concessions stand operations, and maintaining a safe pool environment.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three years of progressively responsible experience in lifeguarding, aquatics instruction or related field; or other equivalent combination of education and experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Special Requirements
A swim test will be required to maintain employment with the City.
Must possess and maintain the following certifications: NSPF Pool Operator, Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED/Lifeguarding, Serv Safe Food Manager. May be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Employees are required to work a combination of weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
