Job Summary

The Clinical Coordinator Mother and Baby accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management and provision of care given to patients by self or others who are under their supervision and in accordance with UVA Health’s policies and procedures and scope of practice.

The Clinical Coordinator serves as a leader of the healthcare team by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for program specific operations of the practice for the provision of effective patient care.

This includes cost control, personnel management, quality improvement, direct and indirect patient care. The Clinical Coordinator supports the Clinic Administrator in accomplishing program goals and outcomes. In addition, the Clinical Coordinator oversees patient care processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and quality of care. Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers. This position requires providing services to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individuals served.

Duties

  • Practice the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

  • Encourage Expert Caring by performing clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementing care.
  • Act as an Empowered Leader, demonstrating knowledge and active participation in professional governance.
  • Pursue lifelong learning through formal education, professional certification, and internal/external learning opportunities and support onboarding of new team members and preceptors as applicable.
  • Achieve quality by adhering to clinical documentation guidelines, understanding outcomes data, engaging in performance improvement activities, and commitment to standard work.
  • Demonstrate Innovation by applying technologies that support patient care, seeking to implement evidence-based practice and new knowledge generated by nursing research.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of a nursing program as approved by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a specialized practice.
  • Licensure: Applicable state RN license required.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements: AHA Healthcare BLS required.
  • Preferred Skills/Requirements: Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions protocol.

Physical Demands

Physical Demand Code: 20A, Nursing. Work function/activity:
Medium to Heavy Physical Demand. The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, bending/stooping, proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
