Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is seeking a Membership Retention Specialist to strengthen and support the vibrant network of volunteers and members who make Girl Scouting possible. In this role, you’ll help ensure that every Girl Scout—youth and adult alike—has a positive, lasting experience.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement annual retention strategies to meet membership goals for youth and adults in the assigned area.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with volunteers through regular communication, coaching, and encouragement.
- Assist new troops with onboarding and provide ongoing guidance throughout their first year to ensure a positive volunteer experience.
- Partner with community leaders and volunteers to maintain a strong service unit structure—helping fill key roles and supporting volunteer-led operations.
- Represent the council at local volunteer meetings, sharing important updates, initiatives, and seasonal reminders.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including Membership Recruitment Specialists, to ensure new members are successfully placed and retained in troops.
- Address and mediate minor conflicts or challenges with sensitivity and professionalism, ensuring alignment with the council’s values and policies.
- Use Salesforce to manage communications, track outreach efforts, and monitor progress toward key performance indicators.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all members and volunteers, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

You should have:
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine enthusiasm for the Girl Scout mission and a commitment to fostering belonging.
- The ability to plan and carry out independent work to meet measurable goals.
- Comfort working directly with both youth and adults.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends regularly (about 3 evenings per week most of the year).
- Proficiency with technology tools (Microsoft Office or Google Suite);
Salesforce experience a plus. - A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for daily travel within the region.
- Bilingual skills in English and at least one of the following languages:
Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, or Korean. - Experience supporting volunteers or managing community-based programs.
- Previous involvement with Girl Scouts or similar youth-serving organizations.
- 100% employer-paid HMO health insurance for employees (dependent coverage, POS, dental/vision available).

The Presidential Inauguration Day is also an observed holiday on January 20th every four years. The starting salary range for this position is $52,000 to $55,000. Additional bonus payments of up to $250.00 (net) are available each quarter for achieving individual and team-based membership goals. Candidates who are fluent in a key language (Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, or Korean) may be eligible for a $2,000 pay differential added to the starting salary.
