UPS Battery Maintenance Technician

We are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class UPS Battery Maintenance Technician to join our growing Operations Services team. This role focuses on maintaining critical equipment to ensure high availability for AWS data center customers. The technician will work closely with internal customers, external vendors, and coordinate regional resources to facilitate smooth execution, with responsibility for preventative maintenance of UPS batteries.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Apply preventative maintenance testing techniques in support of maintaining UPS batteries across our fleet of data centers.
  • Act as an ambassador for safety within the team and promote safe working across the site.
  • Remain cognizant of and act in compliance with all security protocols.
  • Interact with engineers, technicians, project managers, and management on a daily basis.
  • Work with engineers to develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems, while keeping a watchful eye on timelines and costs.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization.
  • Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow‑up.
  • Execute predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Provide support for LSE, weather events, planned, and unplanned outages.
  • Provide cross‑functional support for ATS and Non‑destructive testing teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate must meet and maintain all eligibility requirements to drive a company service vehicle, including a valid driver’s license issued by the state in which they reside.

Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
  • 1+ year of experience in data center or mission‑critical facility operations (e.g., hospitals, military installations, public safety facilities, manufacturing); OR Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics); OR trade school training/certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Can demonstrate strong attention to safety and ability to follow detailed procedures.
  • Knowledge of quantitative data analysis and statistics.
  • Experience scripting in Python or Java script.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $59,600/year in our lowest geographic market to $133,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
