Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Commissioning Manager in Manassas, Virginia.
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for coordinating the job site installation and startup of equipment while working closely with Project Managers at CMCo and customer locations. This includes site inspections and reports, contractor interfaces, start-up of equipment and guiding CMCo technicians while on the site.
Requirements for the Commissioning Manager position include a minimum of three years’ experience in construction management, previous experience managing the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
Responsibilities- Coordinate the job site installation and startup of equipment.
- Work closely with Project Managers at CMCo and customer locations.
- Conduct site inspections and prepare reports.
- Interface with contractors and oversee start-up of equipment.
- Guide CMCo technicians on site.
- Thorough understanding of installation of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple start-up sites at one time.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and layout drawings.
- Ability to understand and respond to questions related to submittals and specifications.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and coordinate multiple tasks and demands.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work well with project managers, contractors, engineers, and end users.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Willingness to travel and work hours as required to meet customer needs.
- Experience in mediation and negotiation.

Physical requirements include standing, walking, talking or hearing; sitting; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and the ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Additional duties may be assigned.
