Product Director, Digital Biology

ATCC, a pioneer in biomaterials manufacturing, will establish foundational databases that provide access to characterization data and reference data associated with all biological products. The digital biology endeavor will use existing and new standardized scientific methods and protocols from ATCC to generate a collection of datasets that can be used to quantify the structure, function and interacting dynamics of biological systems.

The Product Director, Digital Biology is remote and responsible for the development and launch of digital assets that combine scientific datasets generated by various departments king closely with the internal scientific and operations teams, as well as external engineers, this individual will manage the development of software intended for researchers to explore curated datasets generated using biomaterials maintained in ISO‑compliant conditions and using standardized protocols for assays.

The datasets will provide a foundational phenotypic map for researchers to use as a baseline when generating experimental data using ATCC's biological materials.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Digital Biology Innovation and Product Development:
    Champion the ideation, technical development, and commercialization of transformative digital biology products that integrate ATCC's biomaterials with high‑quality, standardized datasets. Align scientific research priorities with software and data product strategies to deliver scalable, research‑enabling digital solutions.
  • Drive Product Lifecycle Strategy and Roadmap Execution:
    Oversee the success and evolution of digital biology platforms by managing comprehensive product roadmaps. Prioritize features and enhancements through data‑driven insights and cross‑functional collaboration with R&D, IT, QA, and commercial teams to ensure alignment with ATCC's mission and market needs.
  • Ensure Scientific Integrity and Regulatory Compliance:
    Establish and validate robust data generation and curation protocols in partnership with subject matter experts. Ensure all digital biology products adhere to ISO standards, supporting reproducibility, traceability, and scientific rigor across ATCC's digital ecosystem.
  • Foster Cross‑Functional Collaboration and External Engagement:
    Serve as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, external partners, and the broader scientific community. Represent ATCC in experimental and computational biology forums, contribute to standards‑setting initiatives, and promote ATCC's leadership in digital biology innovation and data stewardship.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree and 12 or more years' experience, including 0–2 years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership in digital biology product strategy and lifecycle management, with a track record of successfully launching and scaling data‑driven scientific platforms that integrate biological datasets and software tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex biological and computational insights into commercially viable digital solutions, aligning with ATCC's mission to advance scientific discovery through standardized, high‑quality biomaterials and data.
  • Expertise in biological systems and assay development, including the design, optimization, and validation of data collection protocols for gene expression, protein interactions, metabolic networks, and molecular complexes.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO/IEC 17025) and application of F.A.I.R. data principles to ensure scientific rigor, reproducibility, and regulatory compliance in digital biology initiatives.
  • Proven success in cross‑functional collaboration, working across R&D, software engineering, operations, quality, and commercial teams to drive product innovation and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
