Job Description Therapist II

Looking for a Therapist I or II. To be eligible for a Therapist I:
Supervisee in Social Work, Resident in Counseling or Psychology Resident. Applicants planning to obtain post-graduate training must register as a resident in psychology prior to beginning supervision and apply at the time of residency registration (VA Only).

Job Summary

The Therapist II is responsible for making treatment and level of care decisions independently. They collaborate as needed with physician partners. The Therapist II provides complete patient assessments, plans for therapeutic interventions, implements treatment plans, coordinates the treatment process, and discharge planning. They demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age and cultural diversity of patients.

Compassion, Diversity, Personal Excellence, and Teamwork. They report to the Supervisor of Behavioral Health Therapy and/or Manager of Behavioral Health Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes relationship-building skills through rounding to provide training and coaching to team members on effective patient connection.
  • Uses patient feedback to create innovative solutions to meet patient needs.
  • Ensures team members have pertinent information to educate patients on procedures and processes.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members, leadership, and community providers.
  • Adjusts activities to accommodate team needs.
  • Mentors, precepts, orients, and provides timely feedback to team members.
  • Collaborates with leaders and team members for positive patient experiences.
  • Has deep knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses, mental health concepts, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Implements treatment plans using best practice modalities for optimal outcomes.
  • Maintains control during psychiatric crises and reacts appropriately.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
  • Communicates effectively within the interdisciplinary team and during patient handoffs.
  • Communicates care plans and patient progress to all team members and support systems.
  • Complies with standards for medical/legal documentation.
  • Accepts responsibility and responds positively to feedback.

The incumbent may perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree (Master’s in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensure as LPC, LCSW, Clinic Psychologist, or LMFT.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 3 months of hire.
  • BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
Additional Skills
  • Good working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to care for Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse populations.
Physical Demands

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand. Includes constant sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs with proper equipment.

Other
  • May require safety equipment use, such as HEPA masks.
  • On-call responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
