Job Summary

Performs and/or assists in transporting patients of all ages from UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper to other health care facilities or residences with qualified personnel as mandated by the patient’s condition.

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required).

Experience: 1 year of related work experience preferred. Refer to Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure: EMT-Basic, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC), Valid Driver’s License with acceptable DMV driving record, and AHA BLS.

Additional Skills/Requirements
  • Must remain calm and organized in emergent situations.
  • Must be available for rotating shifts as required.
  • Must have a keen sense of responsibility, ability to make decisions, and work independently.
  • Must have good judgment.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with the public.
Physical Demands

Physical Demand Code: 10A, Emergency Medical. Work function:
Medium to Heavy Physical Demand. Job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, frequent repetitive body movements, proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills, attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs occasionally; for any weight over 35 lbs use Safe Handling Equipment.
