Salary: $100,/year
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and/or residential electrical construction projects. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The Estimator works closely with project managers, vendors, general contractors, and clients to support successful bidding and project execution.
Responsibilities- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform quantity take-offs for electrical systems (power, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, etc.)
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead
- Develop competitive bid proposals and assist with bid submission
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
- Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and risk factors in bid documents
- Prepare value engineering options when appropriate
- Collaborate with operations and project management teams during project handoff
- Maintain cost history database for future estimates
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Respond to requests for information (RFIs) during bidding
- Assist with change order pricing and cost analysis
- Maintain organized bid files and documentation
- Track bid results and analyze performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with company estimating standards and procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating or electrical construction
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, NEC code, and construction practices
- Experience reading blueprints and technical specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, Bluebeam, Plan Swift)
- Strong math and analytical skills
