Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Technical Specialist to support our client in Manassas, VA. The Technical Specialist will provide advanced technical leadership across BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and industrial control systems, supporting complex integrations, commissioning activities, and system optimization for mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and IC systems with advanced configurable integrations
- Configure TCP/IP settings, communication devices, and troubleshoot communication failures
- Configure Modbus gateway devices and perform diagnostics using tools such as Modscan
- Interpret vendor manuals to configure power meters, PDUs, ATS units, generators, STS/UPS systems, and battery systems
- Navigate EPMS/SCADA applications for monitoring, trending, and data retrieval
- Safely operate breakers (open, close, rack-in/rack-out) for points monitoring
- Load, update, and configure PLC applications, including communication parameters
- Prepare and review electrical sketches, commissioning plans, and data sheets
- Perform routine electrical and mechanical calculations
- Review supplier documentation for compliance
- Conduct commissioning, inspection, and testing of electrical components and systems
- Execute point-to-point testing and functional startup scripts for EPMS/BMS/ICS
- Manage startup progress, issue lists, and commissioning tools
- Produce technical documentation and startup scripts
- 8+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, or testing EPMS, BMS, industrial instrumentation, or SCADA systems
- High School Diploma with 8+ years of experience or Associate’s Degree with 6+ years of experience
- Strong understanding of PLC applications, basic programming, and SCADA troubleshooting
- Familiarity with electrical/mechanical systems including switch gear, transformers, power panels, relays, and UPS systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, perform basic calculations, and apply industry standards
- Preferred technologies:
Allen Bradley PLC, Ignition, Distech, Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Eaton Foreseer, Schneider EPO, OSI, Wonderware, instrumentation calibrators/simulators - Preferred CCST or Security+ certifications
- Salary Range: $90,000-$125,000 depending on experience
