Aardvark is seeking a highly skilled and motivated DSP Engineer with a strong background in satellite communications, digital beamforming, and FPGA-based signal processing. This role will be instrumental in designing and implementing advanced signal processing algorithms for next-generation satellite systems, leveraging Software Defined Radios, FPGAs, and modern software development practices.

The position ideally will begin as a 1099 contract position, but has the potential to become a full time role.

Location: This is a preferred location is Manassas, VA
, occasional travel and in-person meetings may be required. Remote may be considered for the right candidates.

• Design, implement, and optimize DSP algorithms for satellite communication systems, including modulation/demodulation, channel estimation, and error correction.
• Develop and deploy digital beamforming techniques for phased array antennas and multi-beam satellite systems.
• Architect and implement signal processing pipelines on FPGAs
  , using Xilinx Vivado and related tool chains.
• Integrate and test DSP algorithms on Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including RF, systems, and software engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Contribute to system-level simulations, performance analysis, and prototyping.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in C/C++,
  Python
  , or MATLAB
  .
• Support lab testing, validation, and troubleshooting of hardware-in-the-loop systems.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in DSP algorithm development for wireless or satellite communication systems.
• Proficiency in FPGA development
  , particularly with Xilinx Vivado
  , VHDL/Verilog, and high-level synthesis tools.
• Strong understanding of digital beamforming
  , MIMO systems, and antenna array processing.
• Experience with Reconfigurable Digital Processors
  .
• Solid programming skills in C/C++,
  Python
  , and scripting for automation and testing.
• Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

• Experience with space or airborne communication systems
  .
• Experiecne with digital beam forming algorithm development and implementation.
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development.
• Familiarity with RF front-end design and system-level integration.
• Experience with Git
  , CI/CD pipelines
  , and agile development practices.
• Posess an existing or prior security clearance (within the past 2 years).
