The Integrated Submarine Imaging System (ISIS) program in Manassas, Virginia, is seeking a skilled Optical Image Processing Engineer to support the development and integration of advanced imaging capabilities for current and next-generation submarine platforms. This role will focus on designing, developing, testing, and containerizing image-processing software, as well as creating new algorithms and enhancing legacy code that underpins mission-critical underwater imaging.

The position requires strong Linux/C++ expertise, GPU acceleration experience, and familiarity with optics, multispectral sensors, and modern Dev Ops practices. Why Join Us

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics with 5+ years of experience or Master's degree and 3 year related experience.

• Strong Linux development skills (build, debug, shell scripting, Git)

• Proficient in modern C++ (C++11/14/17)

• Solid grasp of optics fundamentals (imaging, lenses, diffraction)

• Hands-on experience with core image processing algorithms (filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, registration) or comparable signal processing techniques

• Proven CUDA development experience (kernel coding, memory management, performance tuning)
Desired

Skills:

• Design and implement real-time, high-throughput software pipelines.

• Work with multispectral imaging sensors and perform sensor-fusion preprocessing.

• Apply traditional image-processing techniques and integrate AI/ML-based vision algorithms.

• Develop GPU-accelerated solutions using NVIDIA toolkits (Tensor

RT, NPP, CUDA, other SDKs).

• Optimize code for low-latency and real-time execution on embedded or workstation platforms.

• Familiarity with performance profiling and debugging tools for both CPU and GPU.

• Experience with new algorithm research through experimentation, peer reviews, development, integration and delivery
• Ability to mentor others in image processing
