The Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking a motivated and creative Preschool and Summer Camp Manager to lead our early childhood and youth programs. This full‑time role oversees a vibrant mix of year‑round preschool classes, seasonal camps, and children’s programming within a state‑licensed preschool setting. The ideal candidate is an energetic leader who enjoys mentoring staff, building strong programs, and collaborating with a diverse management team that includes fitness, aquatics, dance, sports, and facility operations, all under one roof.

About This Role:The Preschool and Summer Camp Manager provides leadership and oversight for early childhood, camp, and specialty instructor programs at the Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center. This role is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where young children can learn, grow, and thrive.
The Manager leads all aspects of staff supervision, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management, with an emphasis on best practices in early childhood education and child safety. This position ensures compliance with state licensing requirements and departmental policies while fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture.
In partnership with center leadership and department stakeholders, the Manager develops, implements, and evaluates high‑quality preschool programs and activities that meet the needs of children and families. Responsibilities include budget oversight, operational planning, and clear, consistent communication with parents to build trust and maintain strong family engagement.
As a member of the Dale City Recreation Center’s management team, this role collaborates across program areas to support overall facility operations. The Manager ensures safe, well‑organized programming and coordinates staff meetings, training, and deadlines to maintain excellence in early childhood services.
Minimum Requirements:High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related experience in the field of children’s programming and management.
Preferences:- Experience with preschool‑aged children
- Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of administrative and financial duties
- Experience with recreation software programs such as Rec Trac
- Prior experience working in a state‑licensed preschool or daycare program
- Prior supervisory experience
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- First Aid certification
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must be able to pass a background check

Typical schedule varies based on operational needs, typically 8:00 am through 6:00 pm, Monday‑Friday, with some weekends and holiday work required based on the operational and event schedules. This position is classified as exempt and can adjust hours to meet operational needs.
Starting Salary Range:$78,752.02 - $92,649.44
