Iteach is an accredited online alternative certification program designed for individuals with a bachelor's degree to become teachers without a traditional education degree. It offers a fast-tracked, affordable route to licensure allowing candidates to start teaching with full pay in as little as 8 weeks to one year.

You can become a teacher without a traditional education degree through our Virginia alternative route to licensure program. iteach offers a CAEP-accredited educator preparation program for individuals with a bachelor's degree in any subject. You can be ready to teach with full pay in as little as eight weeks.

How iteach's ARL Program Works in Virginia

iteach offers a comprehensive and flexible pathway to teacher licensure designed to accommodate busy working professionals who don't have time for a traditional program. The iteach program is delivered entirely online, allowing candidates to complete coursework at their own pace, from anywhere they have internet access.

Iteach is ideal for those balancing work, family, and other commitments. The curriculum covers essential aspects of teaching, including classroom management, instructional strategies, and student assessment, ensuring candidates are well-prepared for the classroom.

* Practical experience:
Candidates are required to complete a teaching practicum in a real classroom setting, where they can apply their knowledge under the supervision of experienced educators. This hands-on experience is crucial for developing effective teaching practices and gaining confidence in their new roles.

* Mentorship and support:
Each candidate is paired with a mentor who offers guidance, feedback, and support throughout the program. This mentorship helps candidates navigate the challenges of transitioning into teaching and develop their instructional skills.

iteach offers two tracks for Virginia educators: first time educators who are seeking a license and teachers on a provisional license who need full licensure.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others.

* Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods such as discussions, demonstration, and individual or collaborative projects and research.

* Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.

* Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.

* Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.

Requisite

Education and Experience:

* Must possess at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and a 2.5+ GPA

* Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Department of Education Teaching License with an endorsement in the area for which he/she is being hired.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Some heavy work requiring the exertion of 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects may be required.

Additional iteach Expectations:

Those hired into a teaching position may begin as a Permanent Substitute until completing the Pre-Work for the iteach program. Those hired are eligible for reimbursement of up to $2800 of program costs. If reimbursement criteria are met.

Important Notes About Reimbursement

* Candidate will not be reimbursed $250 enrollment fee

* Candidate must pay the monthly iteach fee up front ($280/month for 10 months)

* Reimbursement will be made quarterly, contingent on the following criteria

* Candidate must be making adequate progress towards completion of coursework

* Candidate must make all payments on schedule with iteach

* Candidates must update the division quarterly and when requested

* Candidates must uphold all professional expectations in a teaching position
