The Software Development Manager must have a good understanding of development languages, tools, processes and best practices. In partnership with the IT Director, this role is responsible for representing Development with internal leaders and external partners, ensuring the Development team contributes to business success. This role will play an important role in architecting high-performance web applications by working collaboratively with others including technical leads and product managers.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Prioritize and clearly define work responsibilities for the team.
- Provide accurate time and resource estimates for projects.
- Partner with IT Leadership team around Development Team career development, training, mentoring, performance reviews, hiring, etc.
- Standardize analysis, design, testing and release processes within the team.
- Partner with Software Development Project Manager to engage with product managers, business partners and stakeholders to plan product roadmaps.
- Proactively stay current with industry advances, skills and technologies and share information & ideas including best practices with Dev team.
- Participate in design and code reviews, helping establish the team’s best practices and technical vision.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Strong technical awareness of development methodologies (including Agile)
- Good working knowledge of Java, Angular, Postgre
SQL, and cloud technologies (AWS experience preferred) - Strength in object-oriented programming and service-oriented architecture
- Proven problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify the root-cause of issues
- Ability to understand business requirements and provide creative solutions that work within the technical boundaries
- Strength in successfully planning, prioritizing, and delegating work, and responding to changing needs and priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Commitment to personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work, both individually and at a team level
