My client works within consumer electronics manufacturing and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Designer, on a permanent basis, in the York area.

Key Areas:
Consumer Electronics, Design Engineering, Solid Works, Jigs and Fixtures, Design for Manufacture, Mechanical Design, Research and Development.

• BSc / BEng qualified in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Design / Product Design Engineering or similar
• 3 to 6 years' or more of industry experience working in a similar mechanical design engineer role working on design for manufacture
• Scientific and technology space industry knowledge
• Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials: injection moulded plastics, metals etc.
• Excellent knowledge and proficiency with Solid Works CAD software ideally
• Self‑motivated with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Full UK Driving Licence

• Designing both new products and updating existing products and developing detailed mechanical designs
• Designing production jigs and fixtures
• Being involved in developing detailed mechanical designs using Solid Works and the associated documentation
• Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
• Carrying out post‑production design changes
• Managing a variety of projects
• Assisting colleague with any engineering or manufacturing issues that may arise
