Position: Madhappy Malibu Full-Time Supervisor

MALIBU FULL-TIME SUPERVISOR

Madhappy is a Los Angeles-based clothing brand made for a community of optimists, born in 2017. Madhappy uses apparel, events, and experimental retail spaces – including its permanent flagship in West Hollywood – to explore a personal expression as a means to an improved state of mind. Its own seasonal stores – with past and present locations including New York City (Soho), Aspen, Miami, East Hampton, and Tokyo – are each designed to reflect their site, while still sharing the brand’s DNA.

The brand currently produces a selection of ever-evolving, evergreen classic styles, seasonally available collections and collaborations. Madhappy supports research and awareness in mental health through The Madhappy Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit) and writes Local Optimist, a print magazine. Each to celebrate us as works-in-progress, and the personal and collective expression that is a part of that.

About the job

We are looking to hire a full-time store supervisor for our Madhappy flagship location in Malibu.

The store supervisor is responsible for supporting the General Manager in driving sales, managing daily operations, and leading the store team. This role will play a key part in developing the store’s clientele, ensuring operational excellence, and upholding Madhappy’s brand values.

You must be based the Los Angeles metropolitan area to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Sales, Clienteling & Business Performance:

  • Partner with the Store Manager to drive sales, meet or exceed store targets, and support overall store profitability.
  • Actively engage with customers to build meaningful relationships, improve conversion, and drive long-term client retention.
  • Champion the store’s clienteling program by modeling best practices, supporting consistent client outreach, and ensuring the team maintains active and accurate client books.
  • Monitor key sales and clienteling metrics, assisting in the execution of strategies to improve performance and results.

Operations & Store Leadership:

  • Support daily store operations, including inventory management, stock replenishment, loss prevention, and overall store readiness.
  • Ensure the store consistently meets high standards of cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring smooth operations and team accountability.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead by example by delivering exceptional customer service and reinforcing a client-first mindset across the team.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and coaching team members on product knowledge, selling behaviors, and clienteling best practices.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to foster growth, accountability, and a positive, performance-driven culture.
  • Ensure the team understands and embodies Madhappy’s brand mission, values, and commitment to community and mental well-being.

Customer

Experience:

  • Uphold a best-in-class shopping experience by ensuring all customer interactions are welcoming, knowledgeable, and personalized.
  • Support the resolution of customer concerns with professionalism and care to drive satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of retail experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong sales acumen with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Experience in clienteling and building long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for Madhappy’s mission and a commitment to delivering a top-tier customer experience.
