Environmental Protection Team Leader – Essex

Buckingham Futures is partnering with a Local Authority in Essex to recruit an Environmental Protection Team Leader. This is a permanent role for a motivated professional who wants to lead a team making a real difference in environmental protection across the borough.

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of Environmental Protection officers, providing coaching and mentoring
• Oversee operations including noise, air quality, pollution control, and statutory nuisance enforcement
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and Local Authority policies
• Advise senior management and elected members on environmental matters
• Work with other teams, such as waste, housing, and planning, and with external organisations
• Contribute to service planning, budgeting, and reporting

• Proven leadership experience in Environmental Protection or Environmental Health
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and enforcement procedures
• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills

• Lead a highly visible service with meaningful impact
• Influence policy and practice within the Local Authority
• Structured career progression to senior management roles
