Blackwater Medical Centre, Maldon (Essex)

Blackwater Medical Centre is seeking a Salaried GP for 46 sessions per week to join our friendly and supportive team.

We are a semi-rural practice located in the historic town of Maldon
, with a registered list size of approximately 13,500 patients
. The practice benefits from easy access to the A12
, with good links to Chelmsford, Colchester, and Brentwood
.

• We are looking for a GP who has a proactive approach to patient care
• Some managerial or leadership skills (desirable, but not essential)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive practice with a strong team ethos and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

• ANPs
• Paramedic
• Social prescriber and care coordinator
• Asthma and COPD nurse
• Nurse prescriber

We also have an on-site dispensary and community pharmacy
, which provides great support to both clinicians and patients.

The post holder will work as part of the GP team to provide high-quality, patient‑centred primary medical care to the practice population.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing general medical services to registered patients, including:
• Face‑to‑face, telephone, and online consultations
• Home visits where appropriate
• Managing acute and chronic medical conditions in line with current NICE and local guidelines
• Undertaking clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals
• Prescribing safely and appropriately within NHS and local formulary guidance
• Reviewing pathology and investigation results and taking appropriate action
• Contributing to the management of patients with long‑term conditions
• Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team (GPs, nurses, ANPs, paramedics, pharmacists, and allied professionals)
• Participating in clinical meetings
  , practice meetings, and MDT discussions
• Supporting quality improvement, QOF, and enhanced services
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
• Contributing to the safe‑guarding of children and vulnerable adults in line with practice and statutory policies
• Engaging in clinical audit
  , learning events, and reflective practice

• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and inclusion on the GP Performers List
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong clinical and organisational skills
• Commitment to high standards of patient care
• Experience working in UK general practice
• Interest in service development or leadership
• Some managerial or supervisory experience

• Maintain GMC registration and comply with revalidation requirements
• Participate in annual appraisal and continuing professional development (CPD)
• Adhere to practice policies, NHS regulations, and clinical governance standards
• Work within the limits of competence and seek advice when necessary
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements
• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and inclusion on the GP Performers List
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong clinical and organisational skills

• Experience working in UK general practice
