At American Family Care, we are revolutionizing how people access healthcare. As the nation s leading urgent care provider with over 200 clinics across 26 states, we are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to be the face of our clinic and the first step in our patient-first approach.
Responsibilities- Master Insurance Verification:
Meticulously verify coverage BEFORE services are provided, prevent claim denials, and maximize revenue capture - Excel at Financial Counseling:
Explain costs, billing processes, and insurance complexities to patients clearly - Solve Billing Problems:
Identify and resolve insurance discrepancies and billing issues before they impact revenue - Drive Patient Satisfaction:
Deliver exceptional service during financial conversations while handling payments - Be the Face of AFC:
Greet patients with warmth and professionalism - Own the Front Desk Flow:
Process payments, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-ins efficiently - Protect Patient Information:
Maintain organized records while following HIPAA regulations
- Experience with insurance verification and medical billing (non-negotiable)
- Ability to explain complex insurance concepts with empathy and clarity
- Detail-oriented with accuracy in handling insurance IDs
- Experience as a Medical Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, or in a medical office customer service role
- Tech-savvy with medical billing software and EMR systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to find billing solutions for patients and the clinic
- Positive attitude in challenging financial conversations
- Develop marketable skills in medical billing and insurance
- Specialized training in insurance verification and patient financial counseling
- Make a dual impact by helping patients navigate healthcare costs and keeping the clinic financially healthy
- Build clerical and revenue cycle management skills transferable across healthcare

Our state-of-the-art urgent care facility - Schedule:
Full-time with flexible shifts (evenings/weekends a must) - Requirements:
- High school diploma preferred; X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant or related certification is a plus
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required for this role
