Call Taker Description
Work involves receiving and processing all non-emergency and emergency medical calls, rapidly gathering relevant information during call screening, providing pre-arrival instructions to a caller when applicable, and dispatching the appropriate level of EMS responders. Additional duties include scheduling and dispatching ambulances and chair cars for routine and emergent transports.
Call Taker ResponsibilitiesCandidates must have good customer service skills, be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, possess outstanding communication and organizational skills, have the ability to multitask, and be proficient in the use of computer-aided dispatch systems (CAD).
Call Taker Requirements- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills via phone and email are required.
- Customer service experience in an office environment preferred.
- Must be able to work in a team setting.
- Must be detail-oriented, punctual, able to multitask effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in data entry and general operating knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
- Data entry at 20 to 30 words per minute with active listening during call processing.
- Emergency Medical Dispatch
- C.P.R.
- State 911 certification.
Required training and certifications will be provided as on-the-job training if not already completed. All training hours are paid and certification fees will be paid for by Cataldo Ambulance.
