General DescriptionThe Malden Out-of-School Time (MOST) Program provides after school, vacation, and summer programs for the Malden Public Schools. Our programs follow the MPS calendar and the after school programs operate from school day dismissal until 5:30pm. Full day programs are offered during February and April school vacation weeks and during summer break. It is our mission to provide high quality, affordable Out‑of‑School Time care to Malden students in grades K through 6.
The Specialist will plan and implement small and large group activities in a specialized area and supervise students and staff in all aspects of the full day program.
Summer Months ResponsibilitiesPre‑Program Session:
- Attend mandatory Summer Program Orientation and assist with program set up
- Orient new students assigned to your group during weekly sessions
- Review daily schedules, activities and field trips (if applicable) with students during Group Meeting Time
- Review program policies and procedures, regulations and expectations with students
- Set expectations for maintenance of all program supplies and materials
Teaching:
- Lead small and large group activities in a specialized area (Summer Specials include: Art, STEM, Healthy Cooking, Performance Arts, ELA, SEL, and PE)
- Maintain classroom environment including set up/clean up and maintenance of supplies
- Cooperatively team teach
- Other duties as assigned
Programming:
- Research, plan and implement activity‑based curriculum to promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive development in accordance with Malden Public School curriculum and summer program themes
- Submit requests for materials and supplies in accordance with MPS policies and procedures
- Upfront planning is required with check point submissions on progress in April and May
Staff:
- Communicate regularly with MOST Directors
- Attend mandatory summer program orientation, weekly check‑in meetings, and trainings
- Assign Teachers and Teacher Assistants tasks to help facilitate lessons and support student engagement
- Supervise students and staff during all aspects of the full day program including breakfast, lunch, and program activities
- Oversee field trip arrival and departure procedures and staff supervision while off site, if applicable
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree relevant to out‑of‑school time programs or related field is preferred; minimum of two years experience in teaching and/or administration in the field of out‑of‑school time or related field
- Supervision experience in supporting a team of up to ten staff members and occasional community partners
- Strong supervisory and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and coordinate daily activities including student attendance, tuition collection and management, and parent communication
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with school day teachers, MOST staff and Administration
- Facilitate program planning to ensure educational frameworks are embedded into enrichment activities
- Experience in working with diverse learners and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
- Monday‑Friday 7:45 am‑4:15 pm
- Summer Program in‑person commitment:
June 29 – July 30, 2026 - Summer Program planning:
April 1 – May 31, 2026- 5‑week curriculum outline due April 27, 2026
- Supply list due May 1, 2026
- 5‑week daily curriculum lesson plans due May 31, 2026
- $7,500.00 summer program stipend paid in three disbursements on June 26, July 10, and July 24
Program dates and hours: June 29 – July 31, 2026 from 8 am‑4 pm

Salary$22.00 per hour
