Job DescriptionThe Malden Out-of-School Time (MOST) Program provides after school, vacation, and summer programs for Malden Public Schools. It operates from school dismissal to 5:30 p.m. and offers full day programs during February, April, and summer. The program serves grades K‑6 with a mission to offer high‑quality, affordable care.
The Summer Teacher Assistant works directly with students, assisting the Summer Teacher with supervision, safety, and student participation across all program activities.
ResponsibilitiesProgram dates and hours:
June 29 2026 – July 31 2026 (Mon‑Fri) 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Attend mandatory Summer Program Orientation and assist with program set‑up.
- Engage students in small and large group activities.
- Supervise students during all program aspects: arrival, transitions, snack, bathrooms, outdoor play, enrichment clubs, and dismissal.
- Manage student behavior per MOST policies.
- Implement student accommodations when applicable.
- Maintain classroom environment: set‑up, supplies, cleanup.
- Work collaboratively with program staff.
- Build positive relationships with families.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform both indoor and outdoor duties.
- Typical day includes intensive speaking, seeing, hearing, walking.
- Requires moderate standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, bending, climbing, kneeling.
- At least 6 months experience working with school‑age children, SEL, project‑based curriculum, and/or special education.
- Ability to set limits and supervise school‑age students.
- Experience with diverse learners and families from varied cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Work Monday‑Friday, 8:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
- Required to obtain Mandated Reporter Training.
Salary: $17.00 per hour
