This position is part of the Head Start and Children's Services department located in Malden/Medford. Compensation ranges from $23.97 to $39.61 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide infants and toddlers with a joyful, nurturing, safe, healthy, individualized environment and varied experiences to develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally.
  • Offer a balance between individual and small group activities, including open‑ended exploration, teacher‑directed activities, structured activities, and sensory‑based play.
  • Care for children through diapering, toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene in a relaxed, individualized manner.
  • Supervise classroom volunteers to facilitate developmentally appropriate learning activities.
  • Ensure integration of the educational aspects of Head Start components by developing health, safety, nutrition, dental health, and family‑related activities.
  • Develop activities and strategies to involve parents and improve their understanding of child development.
  • Use computer skills, Microsoft Office, and relevant database systems for data collection.
  • Maintain professional conduct and interpersonal skills, working cooperatively with team, staff, and parents.
  • Conduct individualized and quality educational programming: screening, assessment, diagnostic evaluation, lesson plans, IFSP implementation, daily observations, record keeping, team meetings, home visits, parent‑teacher conferences, and field trips.
  • Promote the mission of ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services, maintain confidentiality, and uphold professional boundaries.
  • Attend meetings, maintain EEC requirements, and perform other related duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with an active Child Development Associate Credential (Infant & Toddler endorsement) or EEC Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher certification; experience teaching infant/toddler‑aged children required.
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in early childhood development with emphasis on infant/toddler development preferred; EEC Infant Toddler Teacher certification preferred.
  • Bilingual ability in a language spoken by families served by ABCD preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including ACF, EEC, IDEA, DESE, Massachusetts disability law, BFEN, and ABCD policies.
  • Mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, move infants/toddlers, sustain alertness during naptime, and respond to emergencies.
