Product Line Manager – Precision Optics (f/m/d)

The Product Line Manager for Strategic Optics (PLM) is the product visionary for key and innovative optics in the industry. Responsibilities include the strategic and tactical management of optics, developing and expanding existing standard product families, gathering market and application information from customers, selecting new products and custom capabilities, defining an end‑of‑life strategy for under‑performing products, and aligning with the Strategic Optics team to determine the future of the market.

The PLM works closely with manufacturing, marketing, R&D, sales, applications engineering and design engineering to develop objectives, presentations and financial proposals for new product initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Define and develop overall vision and strategy for select products; support strategy with realistic ROI, marketing data and corporate plans.
  • Develop new standard product lines and custom capability offerings for specific product areas.
  • Communicate product strategy and plan for specific product areas.
  • Develop business cases, product plans and roadmaps, including forecasts, competitive landscape, pricing and end‑of‑life strategies.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with global sales, business development, marketing, R&D, engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teams to establish plans and technologies for product development and go‑to‑market strategy.
  • Direct functional groups without direct reporting authority.
  • Work with marketing to define strategies across channels, geographies and customer segments.
  • Stay current with scientific literature, attend trade shows and share new information with the team and stakeholders.
  • Promote products internally and externally through trainings, trade shows, conferences and seminars.
  • Maintain relationships with key suppliers, partners and customers.
  • Recognize expertise needed for projects and assemble/lead subject‑matter‑expert teams as required.
  • Qualify, screen, hire and mentor Product Line Engineers and Applications Engineers while delegating responsibilities through the team.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Physics or a related technical field; minimum 2 years’ experience in application engineering, manufacturing engineering, product line engineering or product management in optics.
  • Strong optics product, manufacturing and technology knowledge.
  • High level of personal initiative and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong leadership ability and capacity to motivate and train teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and creative thinking capabilities.
  • Comfortable with all MS Office software.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
