Title:

Bus/Van Monitor (Year Round) Reports to

Director of Transportation

Qualifications
  • Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
  • Ability to read and write, to understand verbal instructions, and to communicate with fellow employees, students, and Director of Transportation
  • Attend driver training days and mandatory in‑service meetings
Job Goal
  • To assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for students by maintaining order on a school bus or van by directly supporting individual children as needed
Performance Responsibilities
  • Assists the driver in maintaining appropriate student conduct on the bus or van
  • Assists young or disabled students with getting on and off the bus or van; operates chair lift; assists students in crossing streets; assist with seat belts and harnesses where appropriate
  • Assures that students get on and off the bus or van in an orderly fashion
  • Assists driver with disciplinary problems
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned

Terms of Employment

Hourly, year round and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation.
