Qualifications: Must hold valid Maine license to drive a Van. Demonstrated English reading and Writing skills. Driver must have a clean driving record according to our insurance carrier’s guidelines. Have ability to complete training in location of routes. Student discipline in accordance with District Policies. Abide by all State of Maine Highway laws. No previous experience as a van driver required.

Job Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation so students may participate to the fullest possible advantage in district curriculum and extra-curricular programs, with no problems related to transportation interrupting educational programs.

Working Conditions: Required to operate up to an 7 Passenger Van and operate pressure washing equipment. Must work appropriately with all age groups. Must have ability to react quickly and appropriately to hazardous situations involving student safety and stay calm in an emergency. Must be capable of physically assisting students from the van when necessary which may include wheel-chair bound students.

Must drive in adverse conditions, including icy roads, snow storms and darkness. Will be exposed to cleaning solutions and insects.
