Job Description
Hunting, Dearborn Division is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team in Fryeburg, ME. The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment, and minor construction work in the trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and meet Company standards. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy management/HVAC, fire and life safety and keys/security systems.
This position is distinguished by the responsibility for a wide variety of non-routine assignments across multiple trades.
The Maintenance department at Hunting Dearborn repairs and maintains over 200 pieces of precision production equipment and the 150,000 square foot facility which houses it. This requires coordination amongst the Maintenance staff as well as outside contractors and consultants.

Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components; tests system competency and component devices and evaluates performance. Assists management in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommends approaches to preventative maintenance programs.
- Repairs and maintains a variety of facilities systems, components, and structures; repairs building plumbing, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sensors and related hardware and software; constructs and maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, fans, lights and related; conducts inspections for safety.
- Maintains air handling units; cleans and inspects all equipment, completes filter changes, lubricates, maintains and services mechanical and refrigeration and/or cooling systems.
- Identifies repair and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of contractors or vendors; participates in estimates and evaluations of project costs; monitors work of vendors or contractors; assists in the review of new construction or remodel plans to assure compliance with facility maintenance standards.
- Accesses and makes all levels of adjustments to computerized control systems, such as for lighting or energy management systems; and troubleshoots control system problems.
- Performs electronic recordkeeping related to preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications, and installations. Tracks and closes assigned work orders.
- Maintains a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of Company facilities.
- Promptly responds to equipment failures, troubleshoot, repair, and test to return equipment to service.
- Responds to emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational. Assists with tasks required in preparing to open facility after a closure including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks, and start-up operations as assigned.
- Works closely with purchasing agents to track and acquire the repair parts and supplies needed to maintain the facility.
- Knows and understands all safety procedures of the Company. Assists in structural safety inspections.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education and Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required, higher education preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license for operation of a motor vehicle in Maine and possess an acceptable driving record.
- Experience
- Five years of facilities maintenance, construction, or repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting. Two years of education or training, or an associate degree in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for two years of work experience.
- Demonstrates a strong background in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction trades. Position incumbents provide input to management regarding the work, including participating in planning maintenance work, participating in project management tasks, and investigating and resolving unusual situations.
- Power and hand tools used in facilities maintenance; recordkeeping techniques and regulations; OSHA workplace health and safety standards and procedures; use of personal computers to use recordkeeping tools, automated system controls, and email.
