The Telecom Underground Construction Foreman will perform general labor duties in the field of telecom underground construction. Based out of the office in Fairfield ME, the Foreman will be someone who can operate all machinery and has experience with telecommunication buried plant.

What You Will Do
  • Familiar with, and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers/chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand tools
  • Drive to and from job sites throughout the Maine region as well as perform general construction labor at the job site including loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight.
  • Conscientious regarding the safety of him/herself at times as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job site
  • Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environment
  • Travel throughout the region with the Underground Crew, and overseeing an apprentice in the role
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need
  • Previous underground utility or communications construction experience required
  • Active Drivers License Required;
    Class A CDL desired but not required
  • Hydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plus
  • Show up for work daily and on time and ability to follow directions
  • Handle physical demands of construction duties
  • Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver's license and pass random driver's license screenings
  • Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers
  • Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification; company supplied training
  • Must be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT Physical
  • Due to the nature of the job, travel is a requirement; hotels are paid for and employee will be supplied with per diem
  • Overtime is available every week
  • Knowledge of materials handling equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Work Environment
  • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuously
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
