Job Description:

Shop/Field Mechanic

As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing skilled mechanical repairs and maintenance on various construction equipment, vehicles, and machinery, ensuring they remain in optimal working condition. Your primary role will be to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues promptly to minimize equipment downtime.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair construction equipment, vehicles, and machinery on-site or in the workshop, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, trucks, concrete mixers, and generators.
  • Identify mechanical problems by utilizing diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and expertise in understanding construction equipment functionalities.
  • Perform complex repairs, including engine overhauls, gearbox repairs, hydraulic system repairs, braking systems, electrical systems, and welding repairs.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics, technicians, and equipment operators to determine the cause of equipment malfunctions and implement appropriate repair solutions.
  • Regularly maintain equipment and vehicles by performing preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid level checks, and greasing.
  • Develop and maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repairs conducted on construction equipment and vehicles.
  • Monitor parts and supplies inventory and communicate with the procurement department to ensure the availability of necessary spare parts and tools.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and procedures while working with potentially hazardous equipment.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics or technicians, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance the overall team's skills.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in construction equipment and technology, attending workshops or training sessions as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Certified or licensed mechanic with a specialization in construction equipment preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanic in the construction industry, including knowledge of heavy machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems commonly found in construction equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Skilled in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Proficient in carrying out welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform repair tasks in all weather conditions and occasionally in tight or confined spaces.
