Security Dispatcher Part Time Nights -

A specialty referral hospital, Harper has established Centers of Excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention and heart failure.

Security Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining operational control of communications for DMC Police Authority
. The dispatcher operates sophisticated technology equipment, monitors life safety systems, processes and dispatches emergency & non‑emergency calls, and demonstrates optimal customer service skills.

• Monitoring and responding to life safety systems – fire panel alarms, CCTV, infant abduction systems, access control, etc.
• Knowledge of individual hospital and exterior campus.
• Receiving emergency and non‑emergency calls and recording significant information.
• Prioritizing calls according to urgency and importance.
• Using radio, phone or computer to send Police Authority Officers to respond to situations.
• Coordinating with police, fire department and other emergency response teams to ensure appropriate response.
• Understanding of police and fire response 911 notifications.
• Reporting unusual activity to security staff for further investigation or action.
• Tracking inquiries, reports and requests via manual or electronic logs.
• Providing exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
• Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, relating to assigned duties, and working knowledge of regulatory requirements needed for the position.
• Emergency Management credentials: FEMA 300, 400, 700.
• Other duties as assigned.

High school graduate or GED required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Effective written and oral communication skills, including proper grammar and spelling for reporting.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public professionally.
• Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently.
• Sound and independent judgement and critical thinking skills.
• Strong active listening skills.
• Ability to frequently prepare written reports and provide quality customer service.
• Must meet all physical requirements of the job; may require an annual physical.
• Must be able to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment (masks, gowns, security‑related equipment, etc.), as required.
