GEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a skilled Laboratory Analyst to join our team in Charleston, SC, supporting radio chemical sample preparation, analytical testing, and data review using established laboratory methods. This position is ideal for early-career scientists who want to apply their chemistry or science degree in a professional laboratory environment supporting nuclear programs and environmental monitoring projects across the United States and internationally.
Responsibilities- Perform routine analytical chemistry including glove box aliquoting, acid digestions, column separation chemistry, distillations and radiological counting.
- Follow complex procedures involving sample preparation and/or operation and calibration of instrumentation while demonstrating consistent, reliable performance.
- Complete data entry activities, including initial data reduction and initial data review.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of methods and/or instrumentation.
- Review peers’ analytical data.
- Communicate with internal customers or auditors (Project Managers, Quality, or Auditors).
- Demonstrate and support GEL core values.

- Bachelor of Science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology.
- Minimum of one year of related laboratory experience. Additional years of applicable experience may qualify candidates for higher level Laboratory Analyst roles.
- Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exhibits organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience operating basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- May work a Monday – Friday schedule or a Tuesday – Saturday schedule.
This position requires working in a busy production laboratory successfully processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.
Required- Precise hand/eye coordination and finger/hand manipulation.
- Potential exposure to chemicals, and to hazardous and/or radioactive materials.
- Use of office and laboratory equipment and stamina to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
