Spend your summer on the shores of Lake Christopher at the University of Maine 4-H Camp & Learning Center at Bryant Pond
. We are looking for energetic, outdoor-loving individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors in the heart of Maine’s Western Mountains.
This is an amazing residential leadership experience. As a counselor, you are the heart of summer camp. After a thorough training, you will get to teach kids to paddle a canoe for the first time, leading a wilderness survival workshop, and do silly skits will help youth build resilience and a connection to the natural world.
Housing and food are included for the season.
Options for paid trainings to get certified as a Red Cross Lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid (WFA), and Trip Leader.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction: Lead hands-on activities in activities like archery, natural arts, ecology, and every outdoor outdoor activity you can think of.
- Mentorship: Foster a safe, inclusive community where every camper feels they belong.
- Safety: Maintain high standards of physical and emotional safety for youth aged 6–17.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with a tight-knit staff to run high-energy evening programs and camp-wide events.
- A genuine passion for working with youth.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Interest in learning outdoor skills (fishing, hiking, or wilderness survival skills are a plus!).
- Ability to live on-site and pass UMaine background checks.
