American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg (Adult) position in Maine, requiring an active ME or compact RN license and a minimum of 1 year of experience.

• Med/Surg Adult unit in a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 13-week contract
• 36 hours per week
• Performs age-appropriate nursing assessments, reassessments, and discharge planning
• Develops and implements individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders
• Administers and evaluates patient response to medications using the five rights and med verify system
• Communicates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including participation in MDT meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
• Provides patient and family education and completes discharge planning to ensure understanding of the care plan
• Performs follow-up calls to patients post-discharge
• Supports hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives and department-specific projects
• Expected to participate in emergency and disaster preparedness planning and response within scope of practice
• Traveler reports to Human Resources on Day 1 for onboarding
• Possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, toxic cleaning chemicals, and fumes

• Active Maine or compact RN license currently in hand
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Current, unexpired BLS/BCLS required; ACLS preferred
• Ability to problem solve with strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Knowledge of nursing assessment and skills for all age groups
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, reach, balance, lift up to 30 lbs, and push patients in wheelchairs and stretchers
• Must have sufficient visual and hearing acuity to assess patients
• Required immunizations:
  Varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses, titer, or signed declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, and PPD 2-step or titer within the past 12 months
• Flu shot required during flu season
