This role is based at an established overnight summer camp set on a lakefront property in Bridgton, Maine. The camp offers a close‑knit, welcoming environment where children are encouraged to grow, explore, and build confidence through a wide range of activities. The leadership team prioritizes safety, organization, and a positive experience for both campers and staff. Nurses here are treated as key members of the community, not background support.
The work is hands‑on, visible, and genuinely valued.
Base Salary: $1,200–$1,400 per week (based on experience)

Shift: Flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, and on‑call coverage as needed

This seasonal Camp Nurse role is ideal for an RN or NP who enjoys pediatric care and working in a fast‑paced, outdoor setting. You’ll provide direct medical support to campers and staff while serving as a steady, reassuring presence throughout the summer. The position combines clinical responsibility with community engagement. If you enjoy autonomy, problem‑solving, and working closely with kids, this is a summer role where your skills will be used every day.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical care, triage, and first aid to campers and staff
- Administer medications and document treatments according to individual health plans
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with privacy requirements
- Track and manage common camp health trends such as illness, hydration, and sun exposure
- Communicate with parents, guardians, and local healthcare providers when needed
- Keep the Health Center organized, clean, and properly stocked
- Educate campers and staff on basic health, hygiene, and safety practices
- Partner with camp leadership on emergency planning and incident response
- Support campers with chronic or specialized health needs, including allergies and diabetes
- Help foster a calm, supportive environment focused on camper well‑being
- Active Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner license in Maine or a compact state
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children or youth in a medical setting
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to live on‑site for the full camp season
- Genuine interest in working with children in a community‑based environment
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Background in school nursing, pediatrics, or camp healthcare
- Adaptability and a positive attitude in fast‑moving situations
- Comfort working in an outdoor, rustic setting
